Muttart Conservatory

It is an one of the best places to visit in Edmonton. Pyramid fixture Conservatory has, that sits right in the middle of the action. To take tours of the beautiful landscaping, people come from all over Canada.

It is a botanical garden situated in the North Saskatchewan river valley. Muttart Conservatory consists of 4 glass pyramid-shaped structure. These pyramid shape structures showcase plants from arid, tropical and temperate climates.

During winter it provides a welcome oasis of warmth. Theme that changes throughout the year is hosted by fourth pyramid.

Conservatory’s construction received donation from the Gladys and Merrill Muttart Foundation. Remaining money provide by the City of Edmonton and Province of Alberta. Edmonton Parks and Recreation Department operate and staffed the conservatory.

Peter Hemingway designed the conservatory’s unusual structure built around a central service core and composed of 4 glass structure. There are two types of pyramid, two pyramids which is in 660 square meters area and two pyramids is in 410 square meters area. Three of them are devoted to displays of plants from the tropical, arid and temperate regions respectively. The fourth pyramid displays of ornamental flowering plants and shows that change with seasons.
General public get help in the diagnoses of the ills of their plants, both indoors and outdoors, offered by Muttart Conservatory called as Horticultural Extension Service. Courses on the care of plants teach by the Conservatory. Various varieties of ornamental plants conservatory gift shop offered.
