Strathcona Science Provincial Park

Strathcona Science Provincial Park is in Alberta, Canada, located between Edmonton and Sherwood Park, south of the Yellowhead Highway and west of Highway 216.

Strathcona Science Provincial Park is situated in the North Saskatchewan River valley, on both banks of the river. On December 12, 1979, Strathcona Science Provincial Park was established and is maintained by Alberta Tourism, Parks, Recreation and Culture.

Cross-country Skiing:

It is a winter sport in which participants move themselves across snow-covered terrain using skis and poles. Cross-country skiing is popular in countries having large snowfields like Northern Europe, Canada, Alaska and the Upper Midwest United States. Skiing can also be done indoor in ski tunnels.

Cross-country Skiing is a part of the Nordic skiing sport family, which also includes ski jumping and a combination of both sport cross-country skiing and ski jumping called Nordic Combined. Free-Technique cross skiing is also the method of locomotion in the combination sport of Biathlon, which also adds rifle marksmanship to skiing. Ski-orienteering is another combination sport, which adds the skill of map navigation along snow trails and tracks.

Downhill Skiing:

Downhill is an alpine skiing discipline. Downhill rules were originally developed by Sir Arnold Lunn for the 1921 British National Ski Championships.

Downhill Skiing is commonly term synonymous with “alpine skiing” to denote the sport and recreational activity of alpine skiing in general.
