The climate and nightlife of Edmonton city

The climate of Edmonton city is semi arid in nature. The seasonal temperatures witness extreme values. The city has milder winters as compared to places like Regina or Winnipeg. These two places are however located further south according to latitude. The summers are warm in Edmonton. The winters are cold. The average daily temperature in winter ranges from -11.7 °C to 17.5 °C. This variation is caused during the transition from January to July. On an annual basis, temperature exceeds 30 °C from May to September. The highest temperature recorded in Edmonton till date has been 38.3 °C.

Year 2006 was slightly warm for Edmonton. Temperatures were seen to reach 29 °C. An interesting aspect of the Edmontonian climate is the Edmonton tornado. Overall, Edmonton has a pretty dry climate. The average precipitation received by Edmonton as per statistics is 476.9 mm of rainfall. The rainfall is heaviest during the end of spring every year. Summer and early autumn precipitation is also quite heavy. July is considered to be the wettest month by Edmontonians. On the other hand, the driest months are those of February, March, October, November and December. Rainfall (snowfall included) also witnesses extremes.

Downtown Edmonton as already mentioned has undergone a lot change with time. A lot of buildings were destroyed during the oil boom. They have been renewed. Another thing worth mentioning is the West Edmonton mall. It holds many establishments in addition to its already existing stores. Bourbon Street also has many eateries along it. There are clubs and casinos as well inside the establishments. Silver city, which is located at the west end of the mall, is a theatre. It has twelve screens and also an IMAX theatre.
